Here perhaps is an important topic for June... What practical approach is being or should be taken by the IG to ensure that an emerging W3C specification on web payments gets pulled into alignment along the way with other key global standards that share the functional space? In putting forward this question, I suggest that describing this approach comes prior to settling upon the list of existing standards that the IG determines "must be" and which "should be" accommodated. (However FWIW, my own draft thoughts about a priority list are below.) My question is about how alignment with other broad global vendor-neutral standards sharing some of the substantive space relevant to W3C Web Payments is to be monitored and pro-actively cultivated through the activities of this W3C IG? As mentioned, in order to illustrate the motivation behind this question, here is my preliminary list beyond ISO 20022 (Universal financial industry message scheme) which was correctly acknowledged at the Paris meeting a year ago: OASIS UBL v2.1 Universal Business Language https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ubl/ http://ubl.xml.org/wiki/ubl-resources ...which is currently advancing as ISO 19845 http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail.htm?csnumber=66370 See also: http://docs.oasis-open.org/ubl/UBL-Governance/v1.0/cn01/UBL-Governance-v1.0-cn01.html ...and for a couple of examples regarding its significance: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32014D0771&from=EN http://eeiplatform.com/13559/towards-single-standard-e-invoicing-eu-public-procurement-6-years-wow/ ISO 15000 Electronic Business Extensible Markup Language (ebXML) http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail.htm?csnumber=61433 ISO 19600 Compliance management systems -- Guidelines http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail?csnumber=62342 ISO 27000 Information technology -- Security techniques -- Information security management systems http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail?csnumber=63411 IAASB ISAE 3402 International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) No. 3402, Assurance Reports on Controls at a Service Organization, of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board http://isae3402.com/ISAE3402_overview.html UNCITRAL WG IV: Working Group IV: Electronic Commerce, United Nations Commission on International Trade Law http://www.uncitral.org/uncitral/en/commission/working_groups/4Electronic_Commerce.html Looking forward to your thoughts, -- Joseph Potvin Project Consultant, DataKinetics http://www.dkl.com Operations Manager | Gestionnaire des opérations The Opman Company | La compagnie Opman jpotvin@opman.ca Mobile: 819-593-5983
