The following document outlines all of the organizations that are directly involved in the current and future Web Payments work: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1H3guwrrYZALQR91iB7QzN1n4ViUnIKgVT6bZiRuyenI/edit We still need to go through and outline the role that each organization plays, but here's a very quick rundown: Web Payments CG - Incubates and experiments with technologies and ideas related to Web Payments. Feeds that work into the more formal standardization groups. Credentials CG - Incubates and experiments with technologies and ideas related to Identity and Credentials on the Web. Feeds that work into the more formal standardization groups. Web Payments IG - Determines what gaps exist between use cases and desired outcomes. Suggests new technical working groups to create for Web Payments / Identity work. Future Payment and Identity Technology Working Groups - Narrowly scoped technical working groups take input use cases, requirements, and technologies to create Web standards. Open Payments Foundation - Funds researchers, writers, and programmers to create open source implementations for all payment and identity specifications. IETF - Standardizes necessary protocols to support Web Payments and Identity work. Internet Governance Forum - Examines and makes recommendations related to policy, law, and operational frameworks for payments and identity work. US Fed Workshops - Disseminates information related to work that is going on at W3C, IETF, IGF, and OPF.
