Hi all, I'm at SIBOS this week. Overall, things have been very productive from a Web Payments standpoint. I am now connected with the Head of Standards at SWIFT (the banks version of W3C) along with a number of people in their standards team. They've all been very helpful in bringing me up to speed w/ how SWIFT works, the standards they create, and how many of the banks perceive innovation, Bitcoin, PaySwarm, Ripple, and a variety of other technologies that are being developed by people on this mailing list. There seems to be a desire in SWIFT to work with W3C, and I would imagine the W3C would be interested with working with SWIFT as well. I've also been able to talk at length with the Bitcoin Foundation's legal counsel as well as a number of major banks and bank software companies about the stuff we do here. Many are interested to varying degrees. Only a few have not been interested (as they don't see Bitcoin or Web Payments threatening their business). I'll write all of this up in an email or blog post when I get back to share what I've learned with the group. Tomorrow is a big day as I'm speaking at the Standards Forum to bank technology / standards folks about most of the stuff we're doing here. -- manu -- Manu Sporny (skype: msporny, twitter: manusporny, G+: +Manu Sporny) Founder/CEO - Digital Bazaar, Inc. blog: Meritora - Web payments commercial launch http://blog.meritora.com/launch/
