That's an intriguing and elegant thought. I like, in particular, our reserve system as it not only limits ledger spam but also encourages people to clean up after themselves. Other points include: (1) we were able to avoid the alternative of destroying the XRP for consuming ledger space and (2) we were able to allow people to have a lifetime of transactions with the creation of an account. https://ripple.com/wiki/Reserves -Arthur
