We (Mozilla) have discussed this a bit more internally, and we still feel we should have some minimal protection for `show()`. We concur that getting the user to "click" somewhere sets a fairly low bar. However, similar to pop-up blocking, just because we know it's not perfect doesn't mean we shouldn't try to prevent abuse.
