If the user can see what they are paying for (and to whom they are paying) that can increase confidence. * For some scenarios, the actual payment happens later. We extend credit, and payment happens at a later stage, and the user needs to see that data when the payment has to happen (post purchase). * Payment apps may also need that information in order to provide some services, e.g., "You can use this coupon for this purchase."
