Fair point. I guess this question is one of scope. This could be achieved in different ways and we need to get feedback on whether the complexity is justified to do it in the API.

An interesting consideration is that if you put the price in the payment method specific data you are left with nothing else in the request. In other words, a payment request is actually a set of payment requests for different payment methods.
