I believe that “how to display non-standard currency” is both low priority (since by definition an edge case) and also beyond the remit of this group (notably, according to our charter we should not be defining UI). I distinguish “how to display something” from “information necessary so that a user agent can make display decisions.” I think there will be some cases where we do the latter, but “how to display” sounds like the former to me. The proposal to does not prevent anybody from providing hints (e.g., via URI or something else if people want).
