CfC to publish WebNN API Candidate Recommendation - review by 2 Mar 2023

Hi WebML WG participants,

This is a Call for Consensus to publish the Web Neural Network API as a Candidate Recommendation (CR).

Please review the latest Working Draft [1] that will be used as the basis for this publication and reply to public-webmachinelearning-wg@w3.org by 2 March 2023 if you have any concerns with this publication plan. Silence is considered consent. We will discuss this CfC on our next scheduled teleconference.

Since the First Public Working Draft (FPWD) published 22 June 2021 the WG has developed this specification to meet the requirements set forth in the WG Charter, passed wide review, received adequate implementation experience and developed a test suite.

Some parts of this document are work in progress and further improvements are expected to be reflected in revised Candidate Recommendation Drafts and Snaphots. Notably, editorial improvements are expected. A specific status text [2] will be added to the CR publication to clarify this aspect.

The WG has maintained public records of the CR readiness [3] and wide review [4] status. The CR readiness "in progress” tasks are noted in the status text and are not considered blockers for the initial CR publication. The wide review has been completed.

Thank you for your long-term support and contributions that make this major milestone possible.

Thanks,

-Anssi (WebML WG chair)
