Dear W3C Offices, cc: Alan, public-webizen, I would be grateful if you could have a look at the work in progress on W3C Webizen: https://www.w3.org/wiki/Webizen In a nutshell, this 2014 Headlights task force is currently investigating a framework to allow individuals to affiliate with the W3C and participate (there are caveats). We are 4 weeks away of holding a discussion on it at the June W3C Advisory Committee Meeting. The W3C Offices were mentioned twice in the past month. A month ago at the task force meeting, I was tasked with an action to seek your feedback, as regional W3C Offices, on 1) who do you think our Webizens will be?, 2) could W3C Offices identify a few likely candidates and seek what the reactions are to the program? Additionally, a very recent proposal in the wiki is all about the W3C Offices: https://www.w3.org/wiki/Webizen#Drafting_a_Webizen_network_structure Here's a snapshot of the text: [[ In order to favor local *and* international community development, in addition to belong to a global community, W3C Offices should also track Webizens in their geography. Existing W3C offices are available http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Offices/staff. When joining a webizen would choose an office (the one he or she wants) and thus would be associated with that local life. This would help them be knowledgeable of local symposia, workshops, discussions, etc. about web technology. The local offices structure could be used later for a regional based organization and voting fragmenting reference. ]] The task force is now set to iron out the details and smoothen the text. Although it is still a moving target, I am now seeking your feedback, so you can help shape it to match realistic expectations. Please, feel free to relay your feedback individually, or as a group, either to me but preferably on the open and public mailing list of the task force, by writing to public-webizen@w3.org. You may edit the wiki directly. And of course, each of you is welcome to become a participant of this task force. Thanks in advance!
