Two public pre-WWW information systems were recently shut down: France Telecom's Minitel, after 30 years in operation, and BBC's Ceefax, after 38 years. Both looked very much the same, but the comparison ends there. Ceefax implemented "links" as references to page numbers that the user would type on their TV remote.
