Hi Jason, Thank you for your help with hosting the F2F and for the update. If history is of any help, most of the times in the past when we held F2F meetings collocated with ATypI, we had them scheduled for the day prior to workshops, to avoid any potential conflicts between F2F participation and ATypI activities. If we follow the same pattern, then September 3rd would be a good day for the F2F. Hopefully, we are still early enough into event planning and being there the day early isn’t going to be an issue for most of perspective participants. Personally, I am available on 3rd of September, and was expecting it to be our F2F day for the reasons you mentioned. Thanks again, Vlad From: Jason Pamental <jason@rwt.io> Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2019 1:09 PM To: Levantovsky, Vladimir <Vladimir.Levantovsky@monotype.com> Cc: w3c-webfonts-wg (public-webfonts-wg@w3.org) <public-webfonts-wg@w3.org> Subject: Re: Taking the WG temperature before our scheduled call tomorrow Hey Vlad, all, I wanted to chat briefly abut a meeting at ATypI but we ran out of time. I’ve spoken with Tamye about it and we can definitely get a space in which to meet; we just have to figure out what day works best. The workshop day is the 4th, and the conference runs 5-7th. I’ll be teaching a workshop all day on the 4th so wouldn’t be able to meet during that day, but could meet on the 3rd or during the 5th-7th main part of the conference (as long as it doesn’t conflict with giving a talk as well, but I don’t have a completed schedule yet) I know that registration and whatnot are going to be announced very shortly as well. Not sure what the best way to manage this, but perhaps if those planning to attend ATypI could chime in on what days they think they will be there we can go from there. I think my preference would be to meet on the 3rd, but I know not everyone will be there a day early. Part of the discussion was about collecting real life data for sets of Unicode codepoints to be used as input data for performance analysis, and Peter Muller suggested that the tools he developed earlier could be used to generate codepoints dataset from actual page walks [3]. On another subject of WG telcon scheduling, we started a Doodle poll [4] to collect info on individual member time preferences and availability. We still do not have responses from many of the new WG participants, and including them in this poll was the main reason for re-evaluation of the current call schedule. For our scheduled call time tomorrow, I’d like you to voice your opinion on the following options: 1. Conduct the WG call tomorrow at the regularly scheduled time (16:00 UTC). If we do, the proposed agenda topics would be: - Input data for PFE performance analysis, and - Preliminary results of the Doodle poll (other agenda+ items welcome!) 2. Postpone the call until next week when we hopefully have more data and Doodle poll responses to discuss. (Considering that some of us are participants of the OpenType /VF font format discussion happening in Seattle this week, postponing the call may be a sensible option.) Please respond to this email with your preference (option 1 or 2) and any agenda+ topics you’d like to propose.
