RE: W3C web fonts working group meeting in Sao Paulo (potential location)

Thank you David and Google for the offer!
Having such a luxury accommodations for the meeting is great and considering the Wi-Fi connectivity, lunch and espressos/snacks makes it an unbeatable deal!

I checked the hotel recommendations from ATypI – most of the hotels (other than those located within the walking distance of the conference venue) are located in between these two destinations. The distance from Ave. Paulista area (where many hotels are) to Google San-Paolo office is only about 3.5 miles (5.5 km) and it is predicted about 20 min taxi ride in traffic – not bad at all!

Thanks again for a great offer!
Vlad

Subject: W3C web fonts working group meeting in Sao Paulo (potential location)

Hello working group,

One option for the working group meeting in Sao Paulo (on Tuesday October 13th, just before ATypI) would the Google Sao Paulo office.

The Google office is about ~20 minutes (without traffic) by car from the ATypI venue. We tentatively reserved a large conference room for the day and confirmed that lunch would be an option, as well as the usual espressos + snacks. :)

Here for reference is the address along with a map from the ATypI venue:

Google Sao Paulo
Google Brasil Internet Ltda.
Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima, 3477 - 18º andar
São Paulo, 04538-133 Brazil

Google would be delighted to host the working group in Brazil! While there would be many advantages of having the meeting in the office (WiFi, VC/Hangouts, lunch, coffee, drinks, snacks, etc), there would be one potential disadvantage and that could likely be traffic to and from (which is said to be bad in the city). One option to mitigate this, could be to start a bit later, e.g. 9AM or even 10AM instead of earlier.

If there is any more information that I could gather that would be helpful in making our decision, please just let me know.

Looking forward to our next in-person meeting in Sao Paulo!

Thank you,
David
