Re: Conference call agenda for Wed. April 10th

Hello Vlad and WebFonts WG,

Here are some preliminary results that we could begin reviewing together in
today's meeting. For the open source collection of fonts that are being
served via Google Fonts, we are seeing a 26% compression improvement over
gzip (on average).

*WOFF 2.0 Compression w/ Google Fonts*
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvcH1ZzSrGMGdGl6MGRhdVRzYjN3T1NZSTBLM0ZUMnc#gid=0

The compression improvements vary quite a bit by font. For example, for
smaller latin fonts such as Pacifico the improvement less (at 12%). While
for larger fonts such as the Korean Nanum Brush Script font, the
improvement is larger (at 52%).

Without a doubt, we have a lot more to do on our end to aid in the
evaluation -- refining the tools further, gathering data over additional
font collections, understanding and quantifying the improvements better,
etc.

Thank you,
David
