Hello my fellow WG members, It's been a while since the last time we spoke (and even longer since our last F2F meeting). Some good things happened lately, and I hope all of you have followed the announcement and the discussion about new proposed font compression project on www-font list (http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-font/2012JanMar/0002.html). The W3C is planning the next Technical Plenary meeting (that is an annual event), which will take place in Lyon this year, the week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 2, 2012. Due to large number of participants and the logistics associated with organizing the meeting of such scale, they asked for working groups to make up their plans for face-to-face meetings and reserve meeting rooms in advance. The deadline for F2F WG planning is April 30, so if we want to meet at TPAC I need to confirm our attendance by that date. With the new project announced and getting some positive feedback, I believe that it would make sense for WebFonts WG to have the F2F meeting in Lyon. Hopefully , by that time all the formalities of getting the project approved and off the ground will be behind us, and the technical work will be under way - this is when an opportunity to meet and discuss various issues would be most useful. I want to ask you all to consider whether attending the meeting in France in the end of October would be a possibility for each of you, and please respond to this email indicating your tentative plans for the TPAC. If we have enough of WG members attending, I will make proper arrangements for WG to have sufficient time allocated and a meeting room reserved. Thank you, Vlad
