And do so after wasting CPU cycles parsing data no one will read in the vast majority of cases. You should not ever leave authors or users waiting for bad software or data. I think it's fair to expect font vendors to justify this and clearly explain what expectations they have and why and how this proposal fulfills them. By “this proposal”, do you mean the proposal for the existence of the Extended MetaData Block? or the requirement to parse the EMDB at the user’s request?
