Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

W3C is pleased to announce the charter of the WebExtensions Working Group:
https://www.w3.org/2026/05/webextensions-wg-charter.html

The group is chartered through 12 May 2028.

The mission of the WebExtensions Working Group is to specify the common
core of cross-browser extension APIs.

Please use the following form to have your organization join the group.
The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants:
https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/webextensions/join/

Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C
groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people
from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that
meet the needs of the wider web community.

The group chairs are Timothy Hatcher (Apple) and Simeon Vincent (Invited
Expert). The Staff Contact is Michael[tm] Smith (sideshowbarker)
<mike@w3.org>, for a total of 0.1 FTE.

The group plans to have its first face-to-face meeting during TPAC 2026
in Dublin, Ireland.

More information about the group can be found on the group home page:
https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/webextensions/
