Dear all, As discussed during our call today, it was resolved that the bug 25618 [1] related to specification patchability will be CLOSED, after implementation in the spec of editor's proposal, which can be summarized as follow : - Changes based on Richard's proposal have been implemented. Extension specifications will be explicitly listed in the specification - list to be updated with Errata. No longer possible to completely override existing algorithms. New hash algorithms can be added. EC curve extensibility intended to allow a variety of new curves, not just those that align with NIST ones. - One remaining change is necessary to make the format of private EC keys defined by the extensions specification (currently it is asymmetrical: import assumed ECPrivateKey but export does not - or vice versa. Needs to be symmetrical, without the assumption). No objection was raised during the call (see minutes http://www.w3.org/2014/10/20-crypto-minutes.html). In order to cope with our working method relying on mailing list approval for sensitive decision making, this resolution approval is pending for 2 weeks. If no objection to that resolution is raised on that mailing list by WG members before the 3rd of November @20:00 UTC, this resolution will be endorsed. Thanks again to the people who worked hard on this bug resolution, which was part of the last blocking point for exiting Web Crypto API from Last Call. Regards, Virginie Chair of web crypto WG [1] https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=25618 ________________________________ This message and any attachments are intended solely for the addressees and may contain confidential information.
