Netflix' KD proposal from a standardization perspective

There are literally thousands of streaming media service providers out there in the wild.
These can hardly depend on pre-provisioned keys embedded in a few mainstream platforms.

IMO, this invalidates the KD proposal from a _standardization_ point-of-view; it is really a vendor-thing only.

This sort of verifies my belief that standardization mainly is about politics. The party with the best[*] politicians usually wins.
Finding the best solution is hardly ever the target because then it gets uncomfortable with ugly stuff like "rating" different/competing proposals.

Personally I always try to put different proposals against each other (including my own) because I find it interesting and often useful trying to compare apples and oranges.
Since 90% of my ideas are total crap, they really need this challenge :-)

Cheers,
Anders
