Seeking feedback on pay at pump use case in advance of TPAC 2017

Dear Web Payments Interest Group,
[Apologies for sending a draft of this message previously to another list; you may be receiving it twice.]

As you may know, the W3C Automotive Web Payments Task Force is
preparing for a face-to-face discussion of automotive payments use
cases on 9 November in Burlingame, California as part of W3C's TPAC
meeting:
  https://github.com/w3c/automotive-pay/wiki/Agenda-20171109

We expect to focus on a "pay at the pump" use case:
  https://github.com/w3c/automotive-pay/wiki/PayAtPumpExplainer

Please see that wiki page for rationale and flow diagrams.

The premise for the use case is that the Web offers some opportunities
to streamline payment at the pump and reduce fraud, especially as
W3C's Payment Request API [1] continues to gain traction in all major
browsers.

I would like to invite your feedback on that use case in advance
of the meeting, and in particular responses to these questions:

 * Are you interested in this use case?

 * Do you have experience with this use cases using non-Web
technologies? We would love to hear about that experience, and in
particular challenges or surprises you faced.

 * What questions or doubts do you have about a Web-based approach
   to payment at the pump?

 * Are you a potential implementer for incubation of ideas related
   to this use case?

Feedback before 6 November is particularly appreciated.

We would like to discuss your feedback at the face-to-face meeting.
If you are unable to participate in person, please let us know
whether we can share your feedback on the (public) meeting record,
and whether we can attribute the comments to you.

For more information about the context of this discussion, please
see the charter of the W3C Automotive Web Payments Task Force:

Thank you,

Ian
