I think the confusion around UV is more a question of whether the default value should be `"preferred"` or `"discouraged"`. This came up in 2019 in #1253. That issue and its PR #1259 were closed as wontfix due to objections against breaking changes, and for fear of making things even more complicated with different default behaviours between browser versions.
