Welcome to the joint task force of the Web Authentication and Web Payments Working Groups

Hello All,

Welcome to this joint task force of the Web Authentication and Web Payments Working Groups. I don't yet have a pithy name or acronym for this task force; suggestions welcome. :)

Our primary goal (at least initially) is to discuss payments use cases and ensure they can be addressed through FIDO2, and in particular the
next version of Web Authentication.

From TPAC, some topics of interest include:

* Web Authentication from within iframes (TLD+1)
* Delegation of authentication results to avoid user friction in Secure Remote Commerce (SRC) flow (and possibly other use cases)
* Dynamic Linking (part of PSD2)

We plan to meet every other Wednesday from 7:30-8:00am PDT, starting 13 November:

 - WebEx: http://www.w3.org/2019/11/sectf.ics (requires W3C Member password; contact me if you don’t have one)
 - IRC: irc.w3.org #webauthn-pay

Proposed first agenda:

  - Status update of TLD+1 in the Webauthn WG

  - Presentation of payments use cases surrounding “delegation” of authentication results. The card networks are interested in
this, for example, to avoid lots of user friction in SRC payments.

  - Next face-to-face meetings of each WG, and whether agendas should include joint task force sessions.
(WebAuthn plans to meet in the Bay Area in February; WPWG plans to meet in Europe in March.)

  - Logistics
    * Do we want a GitHub repo for this task force?

Thank you,

Ian
