Hi WebAssembly Community, Over the last two years, our Community Group has successfully collaborated on developing a binary format for efficient execution on the Web, now implemented in 4 engines <https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-webassembly/2017Feb/0002.html>. Along the way we've grown to 775 members!, picked a cool logo <https://github.com/WebAssembly/web-assembly-logo>, and worked together to figure out issues large and small. However, there's still more to do. We have fun, thorny, and no doubt tricky things to explore adding to WebAssembly, including threads, SIMD, exceptions, and GC'ed objects. It's time to get a little more formal about this process. First, I'd like to announce that we've adopted a charter for our Community Group: https://webassembly.github.io/cg-charter/ Having a charter will make it clearer how our community is governed. The charter we've selected is basically the standard W3C CG template, filled in for WebAssembly. Second, we've decided to reduce our set of 4 CG Chairs, down to a single chair. JF Bastien from Apple will take on the role of WebAssembly CG Chair. Having a single chair was recommended to us by the W3C and will ensure the community and the W3C have a single point of contact and escalation. Having a single chair is primarily procedural, and does not change WebAssembly's goal of working through consensus to design a standard available in all browsers. I'd like to thank our current chairs: Luke Wagner, Brahma Giri Abhijith Chatra, Ben Titzer, and Filip Jerzy Pizlo, who will continue to be involved with WebAssembly. Third, we've submitted a draft Working Group charter to the W3C for review: https://webassembly.github.io/wg-charter/webassembly-wg-charter.html We also continue to move forward the process of drafting a more formal specification for WebAssembly: https://github.com/WebAssembly/spec/tree/master/document We'll keep you posted as our Working Group spins up. Fourth, as we start to figure out issues like threads, SIMD, etc., we'd like to conduct some in-person CG meetings. We'll post meeting dates, details, and notes to this repo as they become available: https://github.com/WebAssembly/meetings Thanks, Brad Nelson & *WebAssembly CG Chairs*Brahma Giri Abhijith Chatra Filip Jerzy Pizlo Ben Titzer Luke Wagner
