Yes, indeed. I think it's highly relevant, and there's a fair amount of overlap in functionality. Same thing goes for ParallelArray [1], for instance. I think that an important task in this CG is to map down different efforts, and make an objective comparison to see what we should focus on. I'll get back to that soon.
