Dear members of the Web Platform Working Group, I'm relaying the Call for Participation to the Group's primarily public mailing list, to notify the group of the charter approval and call for participation. Best regards, Xueyuan -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Web Platform Working Group Re-Charter Approved; Call for Participation Date: Thu, 3 Aug 2017 11:02:20 +0800 From: Xueyuan <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org CC: chairs@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, Chairs, The Director is pleased to announce the re-charter of the Web Platform Working Group: https://www.w3.org/2017/08/webplatform-charter.html The mission of the Web Platform Working Group is to continue the development of the HTML language and provide specifications that enable improved client-side application development on the Web, including application programming interfaces (APIs) for client-side development and markup vocabularies for describing and controlling client-side application behavior. Changes from the previous charter [1] include: New deliverables: Intersection Observers, Static Range Moved from deliverable to potential deliverable: HTML 2D canvas Removed as deliverables: Service Workers; Background synchronization (transferred to new WG) High-level user events A further 6-month extension of the Working Group Updated expected milestones Removed note aspiring to modularisation of HTML It's often a useful goal, but pragmatic decisions have shown there is no clearly right answer and the Working Group makes things externally or integrates them on a case-by-case basis. Please use the following form to join or re-join the group; the form will also instruct you how to nominate participants: https://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/83482/join Current participants are required to re-join this group because its scope has changed. The Web Platform WG Co-Chairs are Adrian Bateman (Microsoft), LĂ©onie Watson (The Paciello Group), and Charles McCathie Nevile (Yandex). The W3C Staff Contacts are Yves Lafon <ylafon@w3.org> and Xiaoqian Wu <xiaoqian@w3.org>, for a total of 1 FTE. More information about the Working Group can be found at: https://www.w3.org/WebPlatform/WG/ [1] https://www.w3.org/2016/11/webplatform-charter.html [...] This announcement follows section 7.1.2 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2017/Process-20170301/#ACReviewAfter and the Call for Participation follows section 5.2.4 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2017/Process-20170301/#cfp Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Wendy Seltzer, Strategy Lead, and Yves Lafon and Xiaoqian Wu, Web Platform WG Team Contacts; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications
