We discussed this at length in the latest WHATNOT (2026-09-17) but the conversation didn't really conclude. There were mixed opinions around exposing this, and exactly how we would without making custom elements more brittle.

I think we'll continue the discussion next week (so https://github.com/whatwg/dom/labels/agenda%2B should remain) but in the interim gathering more use cases and justifications for this might also help.
