Re: [w3ctag/design-reviews] Incubation: Platform-provided behaviors for custom elements (Issue #1219)

Hi @anaskim, the TAG have discussed this and have some initial feedback.

We'd like to see some further exploration on what behaviours might exist. It's currently hard to judge the API design as the types of behaviour described are quite narrow, but the potential behaviours are currently very open ended. The types of behaviours might impact which architecture works best. This is particularly useful when reviewing the conflict resolution behaviour.

We also note the discussion in WHATWG about alternatives to the overall design and find ourselves in agreement with many of the points. Especially the design allowing for only one time runtime control seems like it could be limiting and confusing to authors, a fully dynamic behaviour system or a fully static system feels like an easier API to understand. We recommend to continue to engage within the WHATWG to work out which approach is better.
