The way to see it is not "Safari" doing this... the application that runs Installed Web Apps is an entirely different app. The two shouldn't leak information because that would violate user's privacy. 

If the user installed the app through some mechanism (BIP,  #1178, or whatever), then the developer can make a record at that point (e.g., in IDB, that they successfully installed from the web).
