christianliebel left a comment (w3c/manifest#1181) More updates: According to [HTTP Archive data](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mEbm1NTrqy8B4l5zY3gPgbKWxyNdWOPfVmi1pDIyMus/edit?gid=1678838470#gid=1678838470) from June 2025 ([2022 data](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PbzjhN--jU9MGuWobw5L9EsmlVzI9tlbCe3_NKA7giU/edit?gid=1885116887#gid=1885116887)), the Web Application Manifest is now used by 9.1% of mobile websites (2022: 7.7%) and 8.9% of desktop websites (2022: 8.4%). The results of the State of HTML 2025 survey that covers [system capabilities and pain points](https://survey.devographics.com/de-DE/survey/state-of-html/2025/outline/8#system_capabilities_pain_points) are not published yet. Installable web apps are now available on Chrome and Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, ChromeOS) and Safari (macOS, iOS). Safari has implemented Link Capturing. Firefox is [currently experimenting with installable web apps on Windows](https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/firefox-labs/give-web-apps-in-firefox-a-try-on-labs-and-tell-us-what-you/m-p/101900#U101900). The [installation remains a pain point for developers](https://www.reddit.com/r/PWA/comments/1l7ndcm/comment/mx0v5fo/), as it is implemented differently across browsers. Especially Safari's UI doesn’t seem to meet developers’ and users’ expectations (see above). The issues created in this repository refer to an installed application's offline behavior after clearing the cache and scope precedence. There are no notable questions or requests on [Stack Overflow](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/web-app-manifest). Overall, developers don’t seem to have larger issues or questions regarding the manifest itself. This matches the feedback from my workshops at developer conferences. Vendor requests include support for icons in dark mode and the migration of previously installed apps. The localizable members are currently [being implemented in Chromium](https://issues.chromium.org/issues/380491647?pli=1). The `dir` and `lang` members are already implemented in Chromium and Gecko, the `dir` member is already implemented in WebKit. -- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/manifest/issues/1181#issuecomment-3467558078 You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
