I've added an [approach](https://github.com/[bahrus/custom-enhancements](https://github.com/bahrus/custom-enhancements?tab=readme-ov-file#but-wait-theres-more)?tab=readme-ov-file#but-wait-theres-more)  I think would work as far as implementing built-in behaviors in custom elements in a nice way (my opinion, of course).

Again, I would deeply appreciate any feedback / suggestions as I'm sure I'm missing some nuance in this proposal.  Even if it's "the reason no one is considering this proposal seriously is..." so I can stop wasting my time.
