@annevk The comment you linked refer an other one saying "There's no interest in changing the HTML parser for void elements" (which you then clarify as applying to self closing elements as well). The years of discussion after that contradicts this assertion. If you mean "there's no interest for it at Google and Apple", please state it clearly.
