Thank you for coming to us with this review. We think this is a good feature, and we're looking forward to its addition to the web. We looked, and we think you've looked for ways that this might come back to bite us in the future, and we didn't find any (though we leave it to the WHATWG community to consider). It would be ideal to include that fact in the explainer. We also note that the explainer doesn't have an explicit alternatives considered section, even though you did explore many other options. But overall, we're satisfied with this API.
