Re: [w3ctag/design-reviews] HTML attribute for template URLs? (Discussion #1123)

Btw I opened https://github.com/w3ctag/design-principles/issues/579 to track the higher level issue of whether we need two different standards for describing URL patterns in the web platform or whether we should steer folks towards URLPattern for matching and URI Template for generation (in which case MapML is doing the right thing).
