FWIW, just to report back here, [the button mode API recently entered origin trials](https://developers.google.com/privacy-sandbox/blog/fedcm-chrome-125-updates) (the blog post may be useful to give a sense of what problems it solves, specifically [this](https://github.com/fedidcg/FedCM/issues/442#issuecomment-2189288954)) and is in active production experimentation.
