@sorvell Thank you, the code example explains it perfectly. I agree that people will want to do that sort of thing. But I also don't think they would expect the `.container .item` selector to work and they would understand why it does not. They would want something like the old shadowing piercing selector (`>>>`) to achieve that.

So I think this proposal is orthogonal to that specific problem. It fixes another need that shadow piercing alone will not, namely the ability to have a `.button` that works everywhere.
