Re: [WICG/webcomponents] DOM parts use outside of <template> seems unlikely (Issue #1035)

Here's an article from someone who came up with a similar CSS ideas me, cc @tbondwilkinson. The fact that so many people are independently coming up with similar ideas here shows that the idea has some legs and should be explored.

I'll reiterate, coupling HTML and DOM updates would be a mistake. Imagine if CSS had not happened and `<font>` and `<center>` were how styling worked. The DOM parts proposal is a repeat of that. Decoupling is the answer. CSS-like is one possible, but not the only solution.
