Re: [WICG/webcomponents] DOM parts use outside of <template> seems unlikely (Issue #1035)

I'd love to see a concrete example of how "binding from a distance" would work. Let's just take the same example I have from above, where you've got an `a` tag and you want to bind *part* of the href value, and you need to be able to interpolate a specific value on the server while also providing the binding expression for the client. How would that manifest?
