I do think that if you have the choice to do so, that this is a better approach. It makes the components work without any outside resource requirements.

My main concern with this issue is those who _don't_ have the choice because those styles are provided by another party, and that's something they have to support.

This seems to be pretty common in enterprise settings where a central team provides components + base styles and product teams customize with global styles. Allowing those central component teams to incrementally adopt web components is what I'd like to see unlocked.
