Also, the Fetch API (and thus the DOM API overall) _**is establishing the standard for browsers**_. It's not up to browsers to determine if they feel like implementing it or not. If they don't, then they will fall behind technologically speaking and will end up like Internet Explorer.
The more I read this discussion, the more it looks like a dogma than an objective approach to this problem.
