That's certainly feasible, but it means that fetch itself doesn't block. That seems fine though and in fact it might be a good idea to remove the synchronous flag and have callers "wait" instead when they need something like that (and synchronous XMLHttpRequest could request the parallel queue style callbacks and wait on them on the main thread).
