@stephenmcgruer From an "external" perspective I find it strange that only one option was ever considered:

Integrating everything related to the user's authorization in a single trusted application have a giant impact on just about every aspect imaginable.

For the W3C the issue is not really the SPC spec., but what they expect in terms of adoption.  The SPC "successor" (PaymentHandler) died due to limited utility compared to native code.

Anyway, the W3C will most likely only get a single shot at this so it better be right! 😁
