You do. The lack of a feature is not a basis to add a new feature. We need use cases to evaluate what solution makes sense.

Again, what's important is concrete use cases that motivated such a solution. Given this particular solution has been rejected in the past, it's not useful to keep repeating the same discussion. What may change implementor's opinion or might prompt new solution is new uses cases for which we can seek a solution.
