There are a variety of reasons why members want W3C to work on a spec that someone else is working on. Examples I know of include: * A belief that W3C provides better security/accessibility/privacy/i18n/something else review * A preference for contributions to be created under the W3C Patent Policy. (Note that by default we aim *not* to *copy* wwg work into the spec - much as hixie aimed to avoid using W3C content when he was working on the wwg specs. Although we're less religious about it - both versions are published under open copyright terms). * A preference for working in an organisation that has a broader approach to determining key stakeholders than "a few browser-makers who effectively dominate the market between them", especially for deciding whose input to a consensus is considered relevant * A belief that W3C provides a broad global reach and a respected source for distribution of its work, that is not matched by e.g. wwg, ISO, or other alternative versions. For all I know, there may be many other reasons behind individual members' preferences. -- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
