Agreed, the balance between usability, privacy and trust is the challenge. So the takeaway is: a web app will not support background tasks at present or near future. Id rather not move our web app code to our android wrapper but looks like we have no choice now. Thanks again Jake for all your invaluable feedback, references and advice.
