@magcius: that's a completely broken argument. This effort is about writing an updated URL spec that can replace RC3986/3987 (as per the goal section). Thus referring back to one of those RFCs for actual content would be counter to that goal. (And no, RFC3986/3987 can actually not be followed to create proper TWUS (The WHATWG URL Specification) URLs, they're not that compliant. I'm primarily thinking of IDN and non-ascii here.)
