@bicknellr. Thank you. The idea looks promising. I like it.

I prefer:
- For DocumentOrShadowRoot.activeElement: OptionB.
- Add new API: {DocumentOrShadowRoot or Slot}.activePath (A tentative name)

If we can agree on this, let me spec this.
