Caret movement is not overriden in some editors, while others do. One thing that is super problematic is when the caret refuses to be displayed certain places or cannot go there at all, not even programmatically. That also applied to Firefox last time I checked and is the reason we added a list of "legal caret positions" to the new cE-spec.
