@tkent-google : To be clear, would you be OK implementing the pre https://github.com/whatwg/dom/commit/2920fc15b9e894c45ff84c5d3bb77f7513ff50e5 behavior in Blink, similarly to what was done in WebKit [1] ?

I hope we can reach some agreement on this. I don't think anyone has disagreed that the pre https://github.com/whatwg/dom/commit/2920fc15b9e894c45ff84c5d3bb77f7513ff50e5 behavior was nicer for Web authors so far. WebKit actually made this change because there was interest from web authors.

The revert in the specification is very unfortunate given that this was implemented in Safari 10 and as you know we don't ship major Safari updates very often.
