@rniwa According to my Japanese contact, writing text in Japanese on the web currently still works mainly in the European ltr horizontal writing mode. Is that correct? Can you explain why it would make things worse to expose the information about where the caret actually is? If we don't have that information, we must continue to use the tricks we currently use and will for sure not think about other writing modes at all, because our source code already is so complex/unreadable just supporting ltr writing mode.
