That's not compatible with the prototype chain reparenting UAs do in practice
when transferring elements between documents, fwiw.

This is .... somewhat nontrivial, actually.  Unless you make all adopt
operations do an extra pass over the to-be-adopted tree just in case it has
components in it or something.
